Season1, Ep. 4:
Yusra Mardini: Redefining the word refugee

ORIGINALS  Olympic Channel Podcast

For World Refugee Day, The Olympic Channel Podcast speaks to Syria refugee and Olympic swimmer Yusra Mardini.

In 2015, Yusra Mardini fled war-torned Syria with her sister. When their overcrowded dinghy began sinking in the Agea sea, 17 years-old Yusra, her sister and two other migrants jumped in the water, swimming and pushing the craft to safety.

A year later, she was competing as part of the first-ever IOC refugee Olympic team at Rio 2016.

She’s been named one of People magazine’s 25 women changing the world, one of Time magazine’s 30 most influential teens of 2016 and the youngest ever Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR – The UN Refugee Agency.
